  22. 3. Enhancements to this Version of SoftWindows 95

  24. The following enhancements have been made to SoftWindows 95 5.0.3 over and above SoftWindows 95 5.0:
  25. • Support has been added for 3Dfx graphics cards
  26. • Preliminary support has been added for Windows 98
  27. • Support has been added for ODI networking on G3, PowerBook 3400 PCMCIA Ethernet and other 3rd party Ethernet cards.
  28. • Support has been added for plug and play joysticks within Windows 95.
  29. • An enhanced joystick User Interface has been added which displays the type of joystick that is attached
  30. • A fix has been included for occasional General Protection Faults in Windows 95.
  31. • An MMX fix has been included for Japanese Photoshop .
  32. • Several FPU fixes have been included.
  33. • A number of direct draw improvements, such as more supported modes have been added. This allows games such as X-Wing/Tie Fighter to function correctly.
  34. • A fix has been included for black screens in Need For Speed.
  35. • A fix has been included to correct problems with 256 colors when running games such as Diablo and Tomb Raider II.

  37. 4. Installing SoftWindows 95 5.0.3
  38. ===============================
  39. To install SoftWindows 95 5.0.3:
  40.  
  41. 1) Insert the “Insignia Update CD” into your CD drive.
  42.  
  43. 2) Copy the files "SoftWindows™ 95 Update" and "SoftWindows 95 Upgrade Disk" from the "SoftWindows 95 5.0.3” folder to the existing SoftWindows 95 folder on your Macintosh hard disk.

  45. 3) When asked if you want to replace the existing “SoftWindows 95 95 Upgrade Disk” click on OK.

  47. 4) Double-click the "SoftWindows™ 95 Update" icon, on your Macintosh hard disk.

  49. 5) If asked for the location of SoftWindows 95, select the version of SoftWindows 95 you wish to update and click on OK.

  51. This creates a new version of SoftWindows 95 and renames your old version as “Old SoftWindows™ 95”.

  53. 6) Run SoftWindows 95 5.0.3 by double-clicking on the SoftWindows™ 95 icon.
